  • 4th Session of the FASPPED Executive Bureau to precede the 2nd General Assembly
    Members of the 4th Session of FASPPED Executive Bureau will meet on 29 April the day preceding the 2nd General Assembly in Tehran. This event and the related workshop on "Life-long Learning" were to take place on February 6-7, 2012, but were postponed to late April as a matter of convenience to the members, who will also attend the 2nd General Assembly.

    Workshop on Challenges of Lifelong Learning was opened today to discuss policies for development of Capacity Building in the Asia-Pacific region. The main objective of this workshop is to explore ways by adoption of necessary legislation needed for promoting lifelong learning for Parliamentary Members of the Forum of Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians for Education.

  • Global Action Week 2012 (22-28 April)
    Global Action Week is a worldwide annual campaign organized by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE) to raise awareness of the importance of Education for All. UNESCO actively supports the campaign by organizing activities in its Headquarters and Field Offices, mobilizing networks and encouraging Ministers of Education and all EFA partners to participate.

  • Fact sheets on 24 African countries unlikely to meet the EFA goals by 2015
    Discover the profiles of 24 African countries that are unlikely to meet the Education for All goals by 2015. The fact sheets are published by UNESCOs Regional Office in Dakar. The country profiles are released on the occasion of the annual Global Action Week on Education for All celebrated worldwide during the last week of April.

  • Call on Parliamentarians and the pundits concerned in Education to post comments on E-Forum
    Parliamentarians in the Asia-Pacific region assembled in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia to declare establishment of the Forum of Asia-Pacific Parliamentarians for Education (FASPPED). This gathering held in July 2010 was a precious opportunity for the parliaments of the region to play their central role in decision-making process related to education.

2nd FASPPED General Assembly to open in Tehran on 30 April


Islamic Parliament of Iran is to host 2nd FASPPED General Assembly from 30 April to 1 May 2012 in Tehran. The two-day event will be presided by Parliament Speaker, Dr. Ali Larijani, who was elected to the presidency of this Forum in 2010. Established in 2008 at the initiative of Indonesia in cooperation with UNESCO, this Forum is mandated to pursue realization of six goals of Education for All as required under the Action Plan adopted in the 1st General Assembly in 2010 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
